The home position

Everything starts on the home row. Your index fingers rest on f and j, which have small bumps so you can find them without looking. The other fingers rest next to them and your thumbs on the space bar. Every move starts from this position and returns to it.

Every finger has its own keys

The keyboard is split into columns, and each one belongs to one finger. At first you have to think about which finger presses which key, but after a few weeks it happens on its own, like riding a bike. In our course, the keyboard under the text uses colors to show which finger to use.

Don't look at the keyboard

This is the most important rule and the hardest one. At first, typing without looking is slower than what you are used to, and that is completely normal. If you get through the first days, your fingers will remember the way and your speed will soon pass what you had while hunting for letters.

Typing for kids

Kids learn touch typing faster than adults because they have no old habits to unlearn. A good time to start is when their hands comfortably reach the keys, usually around eight or nine. Short lessons, stars for good results and stories instead of dry drills help keep them motivated.
